My Life

Hello everyone, this is my first time blogging and I am excited to begin.

Being a single mother is not easy at all.  In fact it is a challenge in itself.  Add full time student to that mix and it becomes an even larger challenge.  A challenge I take pleasure in every day I am alive.  I love my life as a single mom.  Anyone who is a single parent knows how amazing things can be but also how difficult.  Every challenge is worth the feeling of love, pride and accomplishment at the end of the day.

My daughter Liliana is the most amazing child.  She just turned three years old and speaks in full, clear sentences.  She knows her ABC's, and can count to 11.  She creates stories, has an amazing vocabulary, enjoys art, and loves playing out doors.  My mother (Nana) and I work with her everyday teaching her new things.  Even though she is only three I feel she is ready to start school.  She is also very compassionate at such a young age.  If she sees someone cry or look sad she will go up to them and ask them if they are alright.  Then she tells them everything will be ok.  The other day she was sitting on my lap and she says, "Mama, you are the greatest mom in the whole world."  My heart melted at that moment and I was so happy to hear that.

Liliana and I enjoy doing a lot of things.  We like going to the beach, watch movies, cooking together, reading, arts and crafts, and shopping.  When I get ready in the morning for school or for the day she watches me put my makeup on and begs me to do hers.  Of course I do not think a three year old should wear makeup because it could ruin her skin, but that does not stop me from pretending with her.  After I apply her pretend makeup she looks in the mirror and I tell her how beautiful she is.  She giggles and twirls in front of the mirror.

I desided shortly after Liliana was born that I wanted to go back to school and build a career for myself.  I have always wanted to become a nurse.  I love caring for people, have great bedside manor (which is very important in the medical field) and am strong both physically and mentally.  I feel like school is taking forever to finnish because I had to do two years of pre-requisites, and then two years of nursing school.  I graduate with my first degree in December of 2012.  If it was not for my mom being my full time nanny and my biggest fan I don't think I would be able to make our dreams come true.
